How connected are you with your oilfield? Do you wait for days for the collated field data to appear in your systems? Do you have any visibility on where the Lease Operators are once they start their routes for the day? How quickly can you respond if a well needs urgent attention?
Field supervisors need visibility of the oilfield
A lease operator spends on an average one third of the work day in entering data. The hands that are meant to produce more oil and gas are thus being tied to mundane data entry. It is not that there are no technologies in use. Every oil field has most of the advanced technologies in use, but none reaches where it must – the field. The last mile connectivity is the missing piece and not many are focusing their energies there.
Most of the field supervisors I meet tell me, it is anywhere between 48 to 60 hours for an issue detected at the well to be communicated and assigned to maintenance technicians for remedial action, and another 60 to 72 hours before the corrective action is taken and communicated back. In all, it is almost a full working week spent on a small fix. And, the worst part is, the majority of time is spent on transmitting the information rather than actually fixing the issue! This is bleeding of productive hours- an oil field can ill afford.
On any given morning when I walk in to a field office, I see the supervisors rummaging through sheets of data to know which routes the Lease Operators were pumping yesterday and what were their key findings. And, given the complexity and volume of work in managing tens of routes and hundreds of Lease Operators, it is really seems essential that they adopt a technology that takes away this opaqueness and provide a clear, transparent picture of the wells and field operations.
These issues are easily fixed with technologies that enable real-time information visibility and provide always on connect with the field with live map-based tracking of routes. This enables the LO Supervisors to track the Lease Operators as they navigate the routes, real-time. In doing so they not only save a lot of time but are enabled to take pre-emptive and prompt action whenever required. For instance, there is real-time visibility on whether the Lease Operators are on the planned route or if there are any deviations. And, if at all there is an exception or an issue that needs to be attended urgently, the operations team is in the best position to redirect the Lease Operator with just a phone call.
How do we get that technology in the field? This last mile connectivity is what we address with JOYN FDG. It enables real-time production with live map-based tracking of routes, showing yield and time spent on each well, as the Lease Operators make their rounds. I know many a times there is poor or no network around some wells. We ensured this does not come in the way and break the chain of seamless operations. The JOYN FDG app comes with embedded auto sync, assuring no data is lost due to poor connectivity.
JOYN FDG is one of the simplest solutions in the hands of practitioners, you and your teams. It is simple because our algorithms manage the complexities behind the screens. We have field trials to prove that with ease and comfort of a handy app, Lease Operators save at least 2 hours a day, every day. Would you like to find out how much time you can gain back?
